Santa Clara Square Development

The Santa Clara Square development is a proposed development to go on the land currently occupied by Kohl’s at  3700 El Camino Real and Lawrence Expressway.

The proposed development is to be 9 stories and have Monday to Saturday development for the next 12 years !!!

This type of development is currently becoming the standard for Santa Clara, a density of 99 people per acre or above. The campaign is being led by Kevin Riley, a Santa Clara planner who believes that high density infrastructure will induce people to use public transportation. However, this model has been disproved time and time again. People will not use public transportation and will bring increased traffic and overcrowding to existing neighborhoods.

This includes 490 units of condominiums, 120,000 square feet of retail and 20,000 square feet of office space to cover the existing property, including the existing gas station.

This development is 5 stories over the Santa Clara master plan, making it the largest development this side of Highway 101.

The City of Sunnyvale is against this type of development, and has issued a 16 page report against it.

Please help in our campaign to inform City of Santa Clara officials that the development must not go forward as it is now proposed in the EIR.

The EIR insufficiently describes the physical impacts the development will have on the surrounding neighborhood.

Traffic, noise, infrastructure overloading, including Sunnyvale Parks and area schools which will be filled past capacity.
