Responsible Development for Santa Clara
Responsible Development for Santa Clara
Responsible Development for Santa Clara is a group of Santa Clara and Sunnyvale residents that are against plans to over develop sections of Santa Clara.
Specifically, the group formed to fight the Santa Clara Square development on the land currently occupied by Kohl’s at 3700 El Camino Real and Lawrence Expressway. The proposed development is to be 9 stories and have Monday to Saturday development for the next 12 years !!!
Our group supports responsible development that will enhance, not destroy and overwhelm the character of existing neighborhoods.
We want to fight against the type of development currently becoming the standard for Santa Clara, a density of 99 people per acre or above.
The campaign is being led by Kevin Riley, a Santa Clara planner, who believes that high density infrastructure will induce people to use public transportation. However, this model has been disproved time and time again. People will not use public transportation and will bring increased traffic and overcrowding to existing neighborhoods.
Please help in our campaign to inform City of Santa Clara officials that this type of development must not go forward.
If you have a similar threat of development in your neighborhood, please contact us so we can all work together to develop a responsible growth plan to submit to the Planning Department of Santa Clara.
